Network drive vs local drive

I am looking for information on the differences between the “local drive” and “network drive” options. Can anybody explain this?

If you access via Network drive, the browsing speed of windows explorer is a little bit faster than Local drive since there is a tendency of reduced number of FILE I/O.
And in some cases, certain application programs only supports files in local drive.

We recommend you to choose the best option based on above conditions.
If there is no reason for using Local drive, we recommend you to use Network drive.

Thank you very much.

Thank you for that clarification and clear guidance.
